Immigrant or fiancé(e) visa application form

If you haven’t already done so, please click here for an overview of the application process in your case.

Click on the type of visa you are applying for from the list below for information about how to access and complete your application form. Keep reading for the answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

An application form must be completed for each visa applicant, no matter their age.

We are unable to assist you with how to answer the questions on your application form, or provide guidance beyond the information on this webpage. Please complete the form as best as you can and discuss any questions with the consular officer during your interview.

Important: Visa issuance is not guaranteed. You should not resign from work, give up accommodation, book travel tickets, or make other final plans to move to the United States unless you have received your passport containing a valid immigrant or fiancé(e) visa. No expedited visa processing service is available.

  1. Click here to go to the Immigrant Visa application portal (CEAC).
  2. Enter your Case Number (typically LND followed by ten digits).
  3. When you are asked for an Invoice Number you should enter your date of birth in the format YYYYMMDD (unless you have been given a case number by NVC).
  4. While you are completing the application form, refer to the on-screen help information if you have any questions.
  5. Complete the form truthfully and to the best of your ability. You can discuss any areas of concern with the consular officer during your visa interview.

Important: Please disregard any instructions to send your documents to NVC. That information is not relevant to applicants in the UK.

Important:

  • Do not be concerned that the form says it is for nonimmigrant visa applicants. Form DS-160 is also the correct form for fiancé(e) visa applicants.
  • If you experience technical problems, try a different browser or a different computer. If the problems persist, try again later. Keep trying periodically in case of temporary network issues. If you remain unable to proceed after several days, try starting a new form.
  • We recommend that you complete the form in one sitting and print the confirmation page with the barcode straight away, if at all possible.
  • If you are unable to retrieve your application form or your DS-160 confirmation page, you will need to complete a new form. The new version will replace the previous version.
