USCIS updates procedures for I407 and Transportation letters

The USCIS London Field Office advises customers of update procedures for Transportation Letters and Form I-407.

Transportation Letter Request

Lawful permanent residents (LPRs), including conditional lawful permanent residents, who have been absent from the United States for less than one year are required to present a valid Permanent Resident Card  (“green card” or Form I-551), when seeking to board a vessel or aircraft destined to the United States.

Lawful permanent residents who are in possession of a valid Permit to Reenter (Form I-327) may present this document in lieu of the green card for return travel to the United States.

The USCIS London office has updated the list of required documents for such Transportation Letter Requests.

Form I-407

USCIS form I-407 is used to give up lawful permanent resident (LPR) status and relinquish a Permanent Resident Card (or “Green Card”, form I-551).
