For the past 40 years, the United States has maintained the Iranian Embassy in Washington, anticipating the day the U.S. and Iran will resume diplomatic ties. But the violent regime in Tehran has prevented the resumption of ties.
“Our hope is that the regime will choose to end its policies that threaten the United States and our partners in the Middle East,” said Brian Hook, the U.S. representative for Iran. “We look forward to the day when we can return the keys to this embassy to a truly representative Iranian government.”
