Processing Times & Return of Passports

Processing times for all services are approximate.  Times quoted should be used only as a guide

Processing time for a full validity (10 year)  U.S. passport is  is approximately 4 weeks.

If you are traveling within that time (and can provide proof of planned travel), please contact the Embassy for further information.

Your passport will be returned to you by either DX delivery service or by Royal Mail once processing has been completed.  Please ensure that you arrange a return delivery and make a note of your tracking number as the Embassy does not maintain this information.  You may use the tracking number to track the return delivery of your passport. This will be arranged on the day of your appointment.

Alternatively, you may bring to your appointment a pre-paid self-addressed Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope with minimum postage paid up to 500 grams. One envelope is sufficient for up to four passports.

One envelope is sufficient for up to four passports.  As the Consulate does not keep track of Special Delivery numbers, you are advised to keep a record of your Special Delivery tracking number so you can track your passport’s return to you.
