Due to reduced staffing the U.S. Embassy in London is currently providing emergency services only until further notice.
Full validity passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad are not currently available due to the temporary suspension of operations at printing centers in the United States. Given the ongoing situation, we do not have an estimate for when regular passport operations will resume. If you have previously applied for a passport or citizenship service, you should expect significant delays.
If you have not yet submitted an application and you do not have urgent travel plans, please do not mail new applications to the Embassy until standard operations have resumed. We are not currently scheduling appointments for routine applications that require in-person appearances. We are not able to provide a timeframe for when normal services will resume. Please continue to monitor the Embassy’s website for updates.
If you have an urgent need to travel for which you require a U.S. passport we may be able to assist with issuing a limited-validity emergency passport. Due to the volume of inquiries we are currently receiving we ask that you contact us seven days in advance of confirmed travel. Please click here to visit our Frequently Asked Questions for further details and information about how to contact us.
