£41,266 gross starting salary per annum, (consisting of: basic salary £36,154, London weighting £2,100 and bonus £3,012).

Employment length:
This is a temporary appointment to cover maternity leave, anticipated to end April 2020. The end date of this appointment will be contingent upon the return of the permanent incumbent to this position and may end before the date stated above.

At the hub of the Embassy is our dedicated Desktop Application and Development team (DAC) of the Information Resource Management (IRM) team. The candidate will provide a first class support service for our Embassy team comprised of over 1,000 employees working for 44 different U.S. Government agencies – the clients.

 IRM is searching for a technical specialist who’s portfolio will cover tier two and three troubleshooting, application development, application support and database administration. This is a truly hands on and varied role; you will need to adapt to multiple and changing priorities, quickly, professionally and importantly, with a sense of humour.

Bachelor’s Degree in one or more of the following subjects:  Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Network Engineering is required.

This may be substituted by holding a current Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification.

Experience programming web pages and developing applications using ASP.net and SQL.  Development of form with tools like InfoPath and prior experience with MOSS 2010, 2013 or 2016.  Experience with Windows Server 2008, 2012 or 2016  and SQL Server 2008, 2012 or 2016 is required.

Level IV (fluent) in both written and spoken English is required.

Professional-level knowledge of the following software development components:  .Net technologies (MVC.net, ASP.Net and/or VB.NET); Structured Query Language (SQL); Internet Information Services (IIS); JavaScript; Hypertext Markup Language (HTML); Cascading Style Sheets (CSS); JQquery, Angular,Visual Basic for Applications (VBA); Microsoft Access; Microsoft SharePoint (MOSS) 2010, 2013 or 2016 and Microsoft InfoPath.  In addition to programming, this position must have a thorough knowledge of current computer operating systems (Windows 10), applications (to include Microsoft Office, Project and Visio), and Web development.  A thorough knowledge of systems analysis and design techniques using .NET Framework,  ASP.NET and SQL is essential.  Basic knowledge of network engineering, telecommunications methodologies (i.e. network security) are also required. An understanding of application support and troubleshooting and customer service is required.

Must have strong customer care abilities and a flexible approach to solving problems. Must maintain effective work behavior in the face of setbacks or when working under pressure. Must have excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills in order to complete projects on time. The incumbent must have a proven ability in installing and troubleshooting applications and other systems software with the ability to design, install and maintain applications and system hardware. Finally, the incumbent must be highly skilled in generating reports required by senior management.
