The U.S. Embassy’s Facility Management (FM) section is searching for a Technical Building Services Manager to join them at the New London Embassy (NLE).

Serving as one of two Technical Building Services Managers, you will provide overall responsibility for all building systems, GMMS planned maintenance, unscheduled Work Orders (WO), staff scheduling, all outside maintenance to Government Owned/Long-term Lease properties (GO/LTL), all BME contracts, all ordering of materials, Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA) and overall management responsibility for all facilities maintenance trades and ancillary workers.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EDUCATION:
A City and Guilds Level 3 qualification in Plumbing/H/Vac or an NVQ level 2 is required. Must have Gas safe certification and Sealed Hot Water Systems Certification.

EXPERIENCE:
Plumbing experience in a large multi-disciplinary work force, with experience in a supervisory capacity on various maintenance projects, delegating daily assignments to the various building disciplines – typically plumbing, electrical, mechanical engineering, painting and carpentry.

LANGUAGE:
Level 4 (fluent) knowledge written and spoken English.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
External GO/LTL:- Definitive  knowledge of the installation of all Plumbing/H/Vac systems to ensure that installations and repairs are carried out in accordance with standards prescribed by local authorities and current codes of practice.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must continually display the highest level of leadership as the definitive subject expert and display excellent analytical skills in the evaluation of all and any works undertaken by the section as a whole and in assessing the impact the work has on others and in applying a valid solution where necessary. The ability to identify problems or dangers and report such incidents or issues to management. The ability to communicate in a timely way all aspects of the job with regard to queries that the management customer base may have. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales. A flexible approach to working as needed due to any unforeseen circumstances. A current full (manual) UK/EU/EEA driver’s license is required. Ability to safely and confidently operate a van (Class B) in and around central London is required. A willingness and aptitude to learn/train in new technologies for the New London Embassy (NLE) project.
