Processing Times & Return of Passport

Processing times for all services are approximate.  Times quoted should be used only as a guide.

Processing time for a full validity (five years for children under age 16) U.S. passport is approximately 3 weeks.

If you are traveling within that time (and can provide proof of planned travel), please schedule an appointment to apply in person.  You will be advised of your options on the day of the appointment.

Your passport will be returned to you by either DX delivery service or by Royal Mail once processing has been completed.  Please ensure that you arrange a return delivery and make a note of your tracking number as the Embassy does not maintain this information.  You may use the tracking number to track the return delivery of your passport. This will be arranged on the day of your appointment.

Alternatively, you may bring to your appointment a pre-paid self-addressed Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope with minimum postage paid up to 500 grams. One envelope is sufficient for up to four passports.
