Without Gas Safe certificate: £38,365 gross starting salary per annum, (consisting of: basic salary £33,476, London weighting £2,100 and bonus £2,789).

Our Plumbers are skilled at turning their hand to anything, from performing skilled plumbing installations and preventative works to emergency work at the Embassy and London based diplomatic residences.
Your work will be varied. One day you may be fitting a bathroom or kitchen; the next, supporting your section, Facility Management, on a Presidential visit.
This is a physical and active job. Regular duties will include: fitting kitchens and bathrooms, installing domestic appliances; repairing existing plumbing runs and installation of all types of domestic appliances, including gas appliances and repairs to gas leaks; undertaking diagnostic root cause analysis and repair work on all domestic boilers and heating systems, boiler control systems; using mechanical aids in the clearance of large drainage blockages, repairs to slate, asphalt, lead, tile and felt roofs as well as guttering and drain pipes.

This position will need to evolve to meet the needs of our new and modern facility. As such, it’s very important that the future post holder is open to change, willing to train and quick to adapt.
Please note that if you don’t currently hold a Gas Safe Certification, we are happy to train you. You will be required to obtain the Gas Safe qualification within 12 months of your appointment if successful for the position.

A City and Guilds Level 3 qualification in Plumbing or an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Plumbing is required. Gas Safe certification & Sealed Hot Water Systems Certification is required.
(Please note that if you do not currently hold a Gas Safe Certification, you will be required to successfully achieve the Gas Safe qualification within 12 months of your appointment if successful for the position).
Must have served a supervised three year apprenticeship, or specialised training in Plumbing.
Level 4 Fluent written and oral is required.
NLE: – Comprehensive working knowledge of all plumbing systems is required. External GO/LTL: – Thorough knowledge of the installation of all fitments and appliances that require water and gas services to ensure that installations and repairs are carried out in accordance with standards prescribed by local authorities and current codes of practice is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have the ability to evaluate a job, select materials, assess the impact the work has on others and apply a valid solution when necessary. The ability to identify problems or dangers and report such incidents or issues through the management structure. The ability to communicate in a timely way all aspects of the job with regard to queries that the management customer base may have. Ability to work as part of a team. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales. A flexible approach to working as part of an after-hours, emergency call out rota. A current full (manual) UK/EU/EEA driver’s license is required. Ability to safely and confidently operate a van (Class B) in and around central London is required. A willingness and aptitude to learn/train in new technologies for the New London Embassy (NLE) project is required.
