December 21, 2020 Former Senior Libyan Intelligence Officer and Bomb-Maker for the Muamar Qaddafi Regime Charged for The December 21, 1988 Bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.
Today, Attorney General William Barr, Director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Demers, and Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Michael Sherwin, announced new charges against a former Libyan intelligence operative, Abu Agela Mas’ud Kheir Al-Marimi, aka, “Hasan Abu Ojalya Ibrahim” (Masud), for his role in building the bomb that killed 270 individuals in the destruction of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland on Dec. 21, 1988.

The losses that resulted – in the air, and on the ground – not only shook the families of the passengers, crewmembers, and innocent bystanders in Lockerbie, Scotland, who were killed on December 21st, 1988. They also shocked the world, and had a dramatic and far-reaching impact on international affairs – creating a new global community of mourners, supporters, and advocates.”
26 July 2010 U.S. Letter Regarding Continued Detention of Megrahi The July 25 Sunday Times article, “Revealed: US double-talk on Lockerbie,” included leaked excerpts of the August 12, 2009 letter from U.S. Embassy Chargé Richard LeBaron to Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond. The article does not accurately reflect the strong and consistent opposition of the U.S. government to the release or transfer under any scenario of convicted PanAm 103 bomber Abdelbasset al-Megrahi. We are therefore taking the exceptional step of releasing the full text of this letter and have informed British and Scottish authorities.

20 July 2010 Remarks by President Obama and Prime Minister Cameron of the United Kingdom in Joint Press Availability ” I’ve been absolutely clear about this right from the start, and in our meeting we had what we call a “violent agreement,” which is that releasing the Lockerbie bomber, a mass murderer of 270 people, the largest act of terrorism ever committed in the United Kingdom, was completely wrong.”
20 August 2009 Scotland’s Release of Pan Am 103 Bomber Disappointing, U.S. Says The Obama administration says it is deeply disappointed by the decision of the Scottish Executive to release Abdel Basset Mohamed al-Megrahi, the only individual convicted in the 1988 bombing of Pan American World Airways Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
