The Department of State encourages all U.S. citizens to enroll in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security and health updates.
Beginning 15 February, all persons arriving in England from the travel ban list (“red list”) are required to self-isolate in a quarantine hotel for at least 10 days. Before travel, you will need to book and pay for a hotel room and two COVID-19 tests.
Travelers arriving in England from a country not on the banned travel list will need to self-isolate at home for 10 days and book two COVID-19 tests. For more information, please visit the Gov.UK website.
Beginning 15 February, all persons arriving in Scotland from outside the Common Travel Area (the CTA, comprising United Kingdom, Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands) must book and pay for managed isolation in a quarantine hotel for at least 10 days. Beginning 15 February for travel to Wales, all travelers will enter via England and follow guidelines for entry into England, please see Gov.Wales website for more information.
All travelers must still have a negative COVID-19 test taken up to three days before departure and provide evidence of a negative result before travel. For information on traveling to the United Kingdom, please see the Gov.UK website.
Travelers should be prepared for additional travel restrictions to be put into effect with little or no advance notice and should consult their travel provider prior to departing for international travel or our website at https://uk.usembassy.gov/.
The Department of State has issued a Level 3 Travel Advisory for the UK.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 4 (Very High) Travel Health Notice for the United Kingdom due to COVID-19 advising travelers to avoid non-essential travel to Europe.
