Diversity Visa Program

The Department of State annually administers the statutorily created Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants” from counties with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. For Fiscal Year 2024, up to 55,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available.

DV-2023 Entrant Status Check: DV-2023 Entrants have until September 30, 2023 to check the status of their entry through the Electronic Diversity Visa (E-DV) website. The DV-2023 registration period was from October 6, 2021, until November 9, 2021.

The Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program requires the principal DV applicant to have a high school education, or its equivalent, or two years of qualifying work experience as defined under provisions of U.S. law. More information is available here.

All DV-2023 diversity visa program applicants must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by the end of fiscal year 2023.

Update: As of September 7, 2023, the Department of State has issued all available DVs for the 2023 DV Program. For more information please visit the Department of State’s website here.

DV-2024 Program Entry: The online registration period for the DV-2024 Program began on October 5, 2022 and concluded on November 8, 2022.

DV-2024 Entrant Status Check: DV-2024 Entrants may enter their confirmation information through the official website, starting at noon ET on May 6, 2023. DV-2024 Entrants should keep their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2024.
