Demonstration Alert: PLANNED DEMONSTRATIONS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED KINGDOM, NOVEMBER 11 – 12, 2023

Location:  United Kingdom (Countrywide)

Event:  Media report various planned demonstrations are expected to take place throughout the United Kingdom on November 11 & 12.  Protests are planned throughout central London, Edinburgh, and various other cities.  Metropolitan Police indicate a planned march and demonstration will follow a route that includes a stop at the U.S. Embassy on Saturday, November 11.  The Embassy has instructed Embassy personnel to avoid the Embassy on Saturday, November 11, due to the demonstration.

U.S. citizens are encouraged to avoid areas of demonstrations and to always exercise caution within the vicinity of demonstrations or if caught in a demonstration.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate to violence.  Do not attempt to drive or walk through a demonstration.  Road closures and transportation services may be impacted over the weekend, U.S. citizens are encouraged to monitor local transportation information and coordinate travel routes accordingly.

Estimated Number of Participants:  100,000+

Demonstrations in London can often attract large crowds at popular tourist destinations, such as Parliament Square, Westminster, and associated bridges.

Demonstration Organizer:  Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign
Location:  Edinburgh (12 noon at Waverly bridge and could potentially extend to areas near the U.S. Consulate in Edinburgh), Glasgow (1 pm at Buchanan Steps), Dundee (2 pm at Dundee City Centre), Aberdeen (2 pm at Westburn Park), Forres (2 pm at High Street), Dunfermline (2 pm at the Mercator Cross)
