Work Hours:
Full-time, average 50 hours/week but have to work as and when directed by their Supervisor, including the irregular hours normally inherent in domestic service/household duties.

Salary:
Salary range for the position £25,445.00 – £34,445.00 gross per annum, depending upon experience.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

 As part of a small team of Butlers, you will be responsible for the smooth, day-to-day execution of the service function at Winfield House (Residence/WH), ensuring the highest possible standard of service to the Ambassador, his/her Family and Guests, bearing in mind that, additionally, standards at the Residence reflect on the President, the State Department and the Citizens of the United States:

Liaises with the House Manager, the Senior Butler and sometimes the Ambassador, his/her Spouse and the Secretary/PA at WH to determine the daily service requirements for the Ambassador, his/her Family, Guests and Staff.

May liaise with relevant Embassy departments (including, but not limited to, Front Office, Protocol, Administration, General Services and Security).

Participates as a team member in the day-to-day service element at the Residence.

May be asked to deputise for the Senior Butler/Valet.

May attend meetings at the Residence.

Reports, discusses and records all injuries/illnesses which may effect the day-to-day operation of the Butler’s department.

Is sometimes asked to assist at other USG properties.

Performs any other duties, as and when required, to ensure the smooth operation of the Residence.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EDUCATION:
Secondary school education is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Work experience in a formal domestic service environment is required.

LANGUAGE:
Level IV (fluent) written and spoken English is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Good knowledge of the domestic service sector is required. Good knowledge of food and beverage service is required. Some knowledge of all aspects of fine wines is required. Some knowledge of clothes and clothes-care is required. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good written and spoken interpersonal skills are required. Good social skills to deal with people at the highest level are required. Ability and experience of working in a team, remaining calm and retaining control, often during periods of great pressure is required. Must be aware that, as a representative of the Ambassador, the U.S Embassy and the USG, standards of personal dress, hygiene, manners and moral conduct are of the utmost importance.
