The Facility Management (FM) section, at the U.S. Embassy, London, is searching for a new team member to join them as their Building Automation Systems (BAS) Engineering Technician for the New London Embassy (NLE).

Reporting directly to the Deputy Facilities Manager (D/FM), you will serve as the Mission’s dedicated technical authority in relation to all dimensions of the Building Automation Systems (BAS). As such, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the BAS, its sensors, actuators, controllers and microprocessor-controlled components throughout the NLE and Controlled Access (CAC) buildings and the industrial Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Plant.

Duties will include: providing definitive and authoritative technical guidance on the BAS to all levels of FAC personnel who necessarily interface with the BAS in the course of their regular and recurring duties, and play a pivotal role in assuring that the day-to-day support services of Facilities Management at the NLE fully assimilate and integrate the operational demands of the BAS platform.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EDUCATION:
University degree in one of the following engineering fields is required: Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the operation and maintenance of a Building Automation System (BAS), including computer and microprocessor control system installation and programming is required. The experience may have been gained as a result of performing general maintenance on computer controlled systems and equipment.

LANGUAGE:
Must have Level IV verbal and written skills in English.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
The incumbent must have superior knowledge, exceptional technical skills, and a thorough understanding of direct digital controls and Building Automation Systems. Must know how to make adjustments to the system and components to keep building within the designed operating parameters. Must be able to interpret sensor readings, equipment failures, and failure codes in order to diagnose and expedite repairs.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The incumbent must have strong computer skills to include proficiency on using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Office, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), to develop various reports and spreadsheets, cost estimated, inspection logs, utility consumption charts and graphs; write emails and research information on the internet. Must be able to lift 25 kilos. A current full (manual) UK/EU/EEA driver’s license is required.
