Ambassador Johnson visits BAE F-35 Factory to commemorate 500th F-35 aft section manufacture

During a visit to the North West this week, Ambassador Johnson visited the BAE F-35 factory at Samlesbury.

Ambassador Johnson speaks to BAE staff and Lockheed Martin leadership on the production of the 500th F-35 tail section

Together with the leadership team from Lockheed Martin he celebrated BAE Systems Air’s production of the 500th F-35 tail section.

The United Kingdom is the sole ‘Level 1’ partner with the U.S. developing the F-35 fighter jet and produces every aft section of the jet.

Overall, 15% of each F-35 jet is produced in the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Johnson note that “this partnership embodies our security alliance”.

 

During the visit, Ambassador Johnson also toured the manufacturing and assembly hall and chatted with with BAE apprentices during a lunch “meet & greet”.
